Michelle + Sean | Thornbury Castle, Gloucestershire

We are very lucky to have several chances a year to photograph weddings at Thornbury Castle.  It's such a romantic setting and there are lots of areas to go off the beaten track and explore.  Michelle and Sean had flown in from the USA and brought 70 of their friends and family with them!  They wanted something more natural and fun than the usual staged shots and were up for something different which makes our job even more enjoyable.  What a fabulous couple and their family and friends were a great laugh.  Here is a selection from the day...

Fiona + Haonan | Thornbury Castle, Gloucestershire

What a pleasure it was to photograph Fiona & Haonan and their wonderful family and friends in the magnificent surroundings of Thornbury Castle. King Henry VIII himself chose this castle to spend his honeymoon with Anne Boleyn. The traditions of the building and the history made for a very special day. Fiona wore a white wedding gown followed by a traditional Asian gown which made for some fabulous photos.

Justin + Ashley | The Battleaxes, Bristol

The Battleaxes is a beautiful old building located in Wraxall just south of Bristol. It has a commanding presence over the south Bristol countryside and was a beautiful wedding location for Bristol lads Justin and Ashley. These guys know how to throw a party and everything about the day smacked of their personalities. Both guys looked dapper in their Ted Baker suits and the ceremony went like clockwork. Friends are a huge part of A&J's life and they all turned out ready to fill the dance floor and rock it into the wee small hours. Jayne - Justin's 'best woman' carried off her speech with aplomb and even managed to get Christopher Biggins to say a few words by Facetime! From a Wedding Photographers point of view, the month of December and low light can sometimes be difficult, but the glow of candles, twinkling lights on the Christmas Tree and warm fires all added to the scene and we managed to produce some atmospheric images for the guys that really captured the feeling of warmth. The Battleaxes interior of warm colours, rich mahogany furniture and wonderful antiques all added to scene.  A&J chose a wintery theme for the main hall and there were hints of holly and ivy everywhere, mistletoe hanging from the seating and even a Christmas tree positioned in the bay window where the guys made their wedding vows. Candles glowed on every table and the food was nothing short of spectacular. I also have to mention the cake which was made by Victoria at 'Yumscrum cakes'...amazing! I also managed to try out an idea that I had been thinking about for the guys - a 'Vanity Fair' style group shot. I used my fashion and commercial lighting experience to produce the following image which is composed from 20 separate photos...Congratulations Ashley and Justin!
